Biography
Chelsea Peterson is an artist born on September 17th, 1994 on the tropical island of Aruba. Growing up on the island she was surrounded by many different cultures which inspired her and that reflects in her work today.
Shortly after finishing high school, Chelsea joined Atelier 89’ workshops in the year 2010 until 2012 which helped shape her artistic vision. In 2012 Ms. Peterson felt a traditional education in Aruba did not appeal to her instead, she wanted to pursue a career in the arts internationally.

Ms. Peterson then decided to move to Amsterdam in the year 2012 to attend Gerrit Rietveld Academy and specialized in fashion. While she was initially intrigued by commercial fashion, she quickly realized that she wanted to challenge everything that defined it. She wanted to break all the rules, start from zero with no restrictions as to what fashion should be. Using the human body as her blank canvas she made sure that every piece told a story of its own.
In July of 2017, she graduated Cum Laude with honors.
Her international accomplishments include an appearance of her graduation collection "Arubano - Aruban" in VICE which was especially fulfilling for her since it is her favorite platform. Another big honor was her feature in Vogue Italy also with the graduation collection. At the Frans Molenaar award fashion show in Amsterdam, she was granted the best dress of the night while being nominated.
After five years in The Netherlands, it was time to head back home to Aruba. in 2022 she had the privilege to teach fashion at Atelier 89’ where she actually started 15 years prior, which was of course quite the full circle moment for her. Also, Ms. Peterson's latest accomplishment was the invitation to go to Greece Mykonos and create new pieces to represent the island at the Biennale.
Following this achievement, Chelsea sought new challenges, branching out into the real estate industry. Together with her husband, C-Zar Olarte, she established a successful real estate company in Aruba.
Chelsea’s main focus right now is branching out into different areas such as real estate, art & marketing using all the tools she acquired during the year. At the same time, she remains deeply committed to her artistic roots, with a vision to create exhibition spaces in Aruba that will serve as a foundation for future artists to display their work.
